Dawnfire raced out of camp, followed closely behind by Shadepaw. Talonfire, his new apprintace Firepaw, and Bramble Heart were also on the patrol. Dawnfire was to lead it, and make sure the clan was well fed. She came to a stop and jumped up on a low branch so she could see the patrol.
Shadepaw sat near the tree, as f Dawnfire were leader, and he was the deputy. Shadepaw seemed like a dark shadow, still, and waiting. Shadepaw's eyes had a evil look in them, and nobody knew exactly why.

Talonfire looked at Firepaw. "Tell me if you smell any prey." he meowed. Fire paw nodded and flicked his tail toward a bush. Talonfire looked at him until he crouched down. "Put your haunches a little lower." Talonfire meowed. Firepaw lowered his hind legs and crept toward the mouse, making sure he was stepping lightly. He leaped and caught the mouse as it tried to get away. He looked at Talonfire, who gave him a slight nod.

Dawnfire watched Firepaw catch a mouse, "Good catch. Even if your mentor does not think well of it, you could be almost as good of a hunter as me." She purred. Dawnfire flicked her tail, "We can hunt along the border with Lavaclan. We will remark our territory. I would not put it past Lavaclan to steal our territory." Dawnfire meowed.
Shadepaw smelled a vole, and crouched into the hunter's crouch. He knew he was down wind, so Shadepaw attacked. He jumped at the vole, and landed on it, catching it. Shadepaw flicked his tail as he brought it back to Dawnfire. He could also smell rabit, but was not fast enough to catch it.
Dawnfire smelled the rabit the same time Shadepaw did. She lept from the tree, and chased after the rabbit with amazing speed. Dawnfire folowed it in twists and turns,A nd finaly caught it with a purr.

Firepaw looked at his menotr"Will I be as good as Dawnfire?" He loved Dawnfire and wanted to be like her, she was like an older sister to him.

"Good catch Firepaw."said Talonfire coming to his senses.
Firepaw nodded to mentor and sinffed the air.He smelled LavaClan,a strange sent,and a mole.'Mole!'thought Firepaw.He crouched into a hunting posistion,lept into the bushes and saw a mole right in front of him.Firepaw took one swipe at the mole hard on the head and the mole was dead.

Dawnfire looked at Firepaw, "Well, if you train hard, then you might. And you never know, I may give a tip here and there." Dawnfire purred.
