A small black head broke the lingering stillness of the night in the RiverClan camp. In the distance the sound of the river's waters weaving and crashing it's way to an unknown place, maybe to far to ever walk. The black tomcat walked out into the night, his yellow eyes peircing the night like a kinfe. The moonlight shone onto his black pelt, silloutting him, outlining every move his body made. His pads made no noise in the silent camp as he made his way to the fresh-kill pile. Pantherstar picked out a mouse, skewering it with one claw and holding it up to his nose. he studied it, and placed it down and bit into it. The blood tasted cold as ice to his warm mouth, but it was something to the night-cat.
Pantherstar was often like this. He would not sleep, no matter how he was during the night. His black pelt shone in the moonlight and his yellow eyes glinted as he sighed. He let his thought wander, and for a moment he was totally unaware of his surroundings...

Two, startling blue eyes watched the stealthy leader out of the darkness. His pelt mingled with the black night but his yellow eyes gave him away. But the cat that watched him was his complete opposite, her fur was a soft white colour and it was her eyes watching him. She placed a delicate paw out and then another as she weaved silently through the rushes toward the fresh-kill pile. Food was usually plentiful for the cats of Riverclan and it showed. Frostfur's fur was sleek and well kept.
Frostfur padded silently up to Pantherstar, running her blue gaze over the prey infront of hem, trying to avoid his gaze. She was a very shy cat but to be polite she mewed "Good evening Pantherstar"

The small black leader moved to gaze upong the white she-cat. He studdied her for a moment before replying, yellow eyes shifting from her beautiful face to her delecate paws. Her soft blue eyes looked into his. He studdied her as if he wouldn't reply if she did not look right to his searching eyes. But no, this was not the case. No matter how cold and forboeing this tom may ever seem, he could also be kind and gentil. "Good night, Frostfur. Up a bit late, are we not?" He meowed, looking up at the night sky with his yellow eyes. The moonlight shifted a touch, angeling it's rivers of white moonlight onto Frostfur's soft white pelt.

Frostfur lifted her icey eyes to look into his deep yellow ones, the cool evening breeze brushed past her and carried the scents of her home to her, the cool marsh and the sweet river. "I could not sleep Pantherstar" she mewed softly, she moved her eyes away from his again and moved one paw nervously. "I am sorry if I distrubed you" She was like that, she could be fine and friendly one moment then she would remember herself and become shy again. But the wonderful thing about her was that she was kind and gentle to all.

"You did not disturb me," Meowed the small black tom, turning his head to face her. "The night can be strange. It is dark, and so it should be feared, and yet it is that fearutre of it that attracts myself." He shook his head wonderingly, his gaze shifting up to look at the large yellow moon.

"I think it is beautiful" Frostfur mewed, looking up into the velvet night "Yes it is mysterious and dangerous but it has something different. See how the cats of StarClan watch over us" she whispered in his ear, moving beside him and her words weaved together as if they are an enchantment "They join with the velvet of the night and bind together, complete opposites but so...so beautiful"

"So beautifull... He breated, not at the sky but at Frostfur. The moonlight had shifted just so. It looked as if the blue eyed warrior was glowing. He smiled and stood up. "Would you like to join myself on a late-night hunt?" He asked, dipping his head. This was so unlike Pantherstar. Usually he would have sent her to bed without a word. This must be one of his good days...

Cloudy, sightless blue eyes stared in the direction of Frostfur and Pantherstar. A small, white kit sat outside the nursery, listening. His green paws seemed to be in shadows, while the rest of his pelt seemed to shine in the light. Leafkit's ears were perked, listening. He couldn't sleep, and had decided to come sit outside the nursery - his curiousity had been aroused when he heard the two older cats speaking.

Frostfur beamed, lighting up her soft cream face "I would love to" she purred softly, bringing her eyes to meet his but for once, not losing her nerve and dropping them straight away. She could see his sleek pelt moving with the cool evening breeze and thought how soft it looked, her own pelt was like a cloud, soft and light.

Pantherstar smiled and dipped his head, his large paws carrying him at the side of Frostfur out of the camp and into the shadows of the night.

Leafkit listened to the two older cats leave curiously. "Now I can find out what's out there," he whispered to himself. But he hesitated. He knew he would get in lots of trouble, since kits weren't allowed out of camp, but for that he didn't care. He always got into trouble anyway, so it wouldn't make a difference. But he was nervous about what he might come across, what strange things he might hear or smell outside of camp. Finally he made up his mind. He got to his paws and bounded out of the camp, before stealthily following Pantherstar and Frostfur by scent.
